Utah Reports Second Death, 88 New COVID-19 Cases
Current cases: The state’s second death has been recorded and Tri-County Health Department (which covers most of the Uintah Basin) reported its first confirmed case of COVID-19 in numbers released Friday. Statewide, there were 78 new cases. Nearly half of those (40) were in Salt Lake County. Other local health departments reporting new cases include Bear River (1), Davis (11), Southwest Utah (1), Summit (7), Tooele (1), Utah (2), Wasatch (8), and Weber-Morgan (6). Signature gathering rules:In order to better accommodate social distancing measures that help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Gov. Gary R. Herbert has issued an Executive Order suspending certain sections of state statute regarding requirements on signature gathering. Specifically, the order suspends the requirement that petition packets be bound prior to circulation and that a circulator personally witness each signature.
